Herman Wielfaert (°1966), CEO

Herman joined Creafund as CEO mid 1999 and is board member at VHC, Beddeleem, Aalterpaint & Purna. Herman has been previously involved as board member at Ghistelinck Group, Transics International & IBt.


Herman started his career in 1988 as corporate finance specialist at ALSK (now BNP Paribas Fortis). Herman subsequently worked from 1991 till 1999 for the Daimler-Benz Group, during which he took up the CEO role for Daimler-Chrysler Capital Services Belgium and The Netherlands, active in alternative financing techniques (tax lease and rentals) for the Daimler-Benz products in shipping, aircraft, and railway assets. 


In addition to this activity, Herman has been a director with the Belgian Venturing Association for a number of years and he is active as an independent director at the Desimpel family holding,  at NV Biobest (Biofirst Group) as well as the Floridienne Group and at NV De Bree. As from Sept 2012 he is a member of the Advisory Board of the Swedish W-Family Office.

Gino Schepens (°1970), Managing Director

Gino joined Creafund in 2000 and is actively involved as a board member at Diresco. Gino has been previuosly involved as board member at Distrac, Exmore, 2XL, Spekindustrie Vanmaele and Herbafrost. 


As a commercial engineer (University of Leuven, cum laude), who has completed further studies in tax law (University of Leuven), Gino Schepens started his financial career in March 1994 at Artesia Bank N.V.  (actually Belfius Bank N.V.) in the credit control department at Kortrijk for the region of East and West Flanders. After a period of internal training, he was soon promoted to the position of Credit Officer (credit analyst) and then Senior Credit Officer from the end of 1998 before moving to Creafund. 


Gino is also an independent director at Quaestor Vermogensbeheer, a wealth care manager and PPO, a mezzanine provider.

Kenneth Depuydt, CFA (°1981), Investment Director

Kenneth joined Creafund end 2018. Kenneth obtained his master's degree in applied economic sciences at UGent in 2003. He completed in 2004 the masters program in financial management at Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School.  In 2008, Kenneth became CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charterholder. 


Kenneth gained private equity experience since 2005 for both Fortis Private Equity and Buysse & Partners, for which he successfully cooperated in closing several private equity transactions and he managed diverse portfolio-companies in realising their growth plans.  Kenneth gained operational and financial experience as a financial manager at a Belgian group of SME's during 2009 - 2012.


Kenneth is guest lecturer at Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School since 2013 on the topic of financial modelling and for the Belgian Venturing Association Academy on the topic of valuation. Kenneth completed both the Guberna courses Director Effectiveness and Board effectiveness in 2017.  

Ruth De Wulf (°1982), Investment Director

Ruth joined Creafund during 2019. She obtained her master’s degree in Applied Economics from Ghent University in 2004. During those 4 years, she studied at Sorbonne in Paris and also worked for the financial data company Bureau van Dijk in New York.


Being selected  by the Financial Women’s Association to be part of the “Wall Street Exchange Program”, she started her career at JPMorgan, where she worked for 3 subsequent years at JPMorgan’s Asset Management arm in Luxembourg, its Treasury Services department in Paris and its Investment Banking division in London. She was then approached to set up a Benelux FX corporate sales desk for the Royal Bank of Scotland in London. In 2011, Ruth joined HSBC’s investment banking division as a director in the wider European institutional client division, where she added hedge funds and family offices to her portfolio of clients.


Ruth has a lot of international experience and has an extensive network all across the globe. She is entrepreneurial proven by the fact she was also running her own real estate development company whilst in London. Brexit however made her change course and return to her Belgian roots.

Karin joined Creafund in 2018. Karin started her career in the ASLK (now Paribas Fortis) headquarters in Brussels in the Marketing Department.  Seeking a more international atmosphere, she went to work for The Thomas Cook Group Ltd. as a Customer Services Representative for the Travellers Cheques Department.  With the end of Foreign Exchange, Karin went to work for KPMG Audit in Brussels, Antwerp en Gent, where she was the personal assistant of the Managing Partner.  In 2004 she started working in real estate development.
